Flower Drum x Xige Estate x Lychee Estate Dinner
Settle in for a special six-course meal – including the Cantonese restaurant’s signature Peking duck – paired with wines from a leading Chinese winery. Plus, lychee-infused cocktails.
Cantonese institution Flower Drum is high up on the list of Melbourne’s best dining experiences. For one night, the upscale Market Lane restaurant is putting on a special evening to celebrate Chinese wine and spirits. It’s teaming up with Xige Estate , a leading vineyard set on about 5000 acres in the centre of the Helan Mountain wine region in Ningxia, China, and South Melbourne-based distillery Lychee Estate , known for its Lychee vodka and brandy.
Enjoy a lychee vodka Martini at the front bar before sitting down for a six-course menu, each paired with a Xige Estate wine. Start with baked crab shell paired with a glass of Xiao Pu Tangerine, a natural orange wine. Next, there’s sauteed seafood paired with chardonnay before moving onto Flower Drum’s signature Peking duck served with a glass of pinot noir. Typhoon shelter lamb cutlets follow with cabernet gernischt and sauteed eye-fillet served with seasonal vegetables, special fried rice and a pour of Xige’s 2017 cabernet sauvignon.
For dessert, there’s baked chestnut sago pudding along with a Jack Rose cocktail made with Lychee Estate’s brandy XO. Finish with Vittoria coffee or Chinese tea served with homemade almond cookies.
From 6pm to 11:30pm.
Tickets cost $270 per person.
